T-Minus 4 Days...

Ok, so t-minus 4 days until the smackdown begins. :) I am trying to compile my finalized option for going about all of this. I am thinking about following the Body for Life plan again and Julia suggested following Weight Watchers. I am not a meetings kind of chick- so, I think I will follow the portion control idea of WW and do the workouts in the BFL plan. I know that I will start with drinking a lot of water. I am the WORST at drinking water. I would rather have anything but water most of the time. Usually, that means a sugary soda or fruit drink loaded with calories. I got a couple of nifty new water bottles for Christmas so now I have no excuses. ( I am sure I will find some, but really I shouldn't) I have some lime juice in the fridge and I will get some lemon juice as well and then I can flavor without adding sugar. The biggest challenge for me will be the caffeine factor. I have gotten away from drinking a lot of diet soda- kinda. I am just a coffe hound. So, back I go to coffee without sugar. I will be able to have a bit of creamer if I add the points. :)
The next step for me is getting off of my arse and moving. Now, I move a lot at work. I am never sitting in one place. I haul heavy boxes and unload trucks and run like a chicken with my head chopped off. But, the second I get home I am consumed by the couch. Granted, I have a plethora of creatures waiting to take up residence on the couch (or better yet, my lap) with me. However, I have a Chuck Norris gym in my basement which is taking up space and not being used for anything else. I have just about every fitness game for Wii that is made. I just have no motivation. I can come up with a million reasons as to why I can not exercise. Right now the excuse is that it is -4 degrees outside. (i think that is a legit reason not to exercise) (OUTSIDE) Arg. See the problem? :)
I am going to have to go the garage and hunt down my Body for Life book. More importantly, my BFL journal... that was a good one. So, stay tuned fearless followers! (4 so far! yea!) This ride is just getting off the ground!

The Quest to Find My Belly Button

Ok, so we don't celebrate Boxing Day here in the US, but I think that we should. It has an interesting ring to it. :) Personally, I would like to have the ability to box anyone I would like today. Actually, I would have rather had that ability when I worked in clothing retail... where December 26th is the day of Unholy Returns. :)
At any rate, I only have 6 more days until my journey to healthy begins. Yikes. Considering that today I made and eggnog latte and had cake for breakfast. Sigh. I really think sometimes I am out to sabotage myself. That attitude will have to go.
I got my gym membership for Christmas! Yea! Plus, I got i tunes gift cards and a new i pod nano! It is orange! (my favorite color) (Don't worry Ryan, the Touch is still gonna get plenty of use!) But, this guy is smaller and I got the little arm band thingy so I can wear it at the gym! So, I am going to be all set... once I figure out how to load music to my new toy. I swear, I am the most technologically challenged member of my family. Besides my Mom. :)
I have decided that this quest will be sub-titled : The Quest to Find My Belly Button. Really. Anyone who is overweight like me will understand this. All the people in the fitness mags flaunt theirs... sometimes they adorn them with jewlery. I just want to be able to confirm that I actually have one still. They don't evaporate after a while if they are hidden for too long do they??? That would be terrible. ha.
I have to decide if I am going to post my before picture. I think it may be the only way to motivate me. That way I can post pics as I progress. What do you guys do for motivation?
That will be it for now. More to come in the next couple of days as I ramp up to begin the Quest!

Merry Christmas! I have managed to eat myself into a coma today... It was fun but I now feel like poo. So, I look forward to the challenge of healthy eats. :)

Happy Christmas Eve Eve

Right, so this is day two of the countdown to Jan 2nd. So far, I have had my oatmeal (albeit maple flavored and not steel cut- but it was oatmeal none-the-less) all of my vitamins, my antibiotic (dang repiratory thing) enough water to float a horse downstream and a coffee. This no coffee thing is going to suck I have to say. I will not be happy Jan. (as my friend Amanda in Oz would say) I am blogging for the second day in a row. It is kind of like journaling- so anyone reading this (Thanks Katherine! My first follower!) will be subjected to my ramblings on about just about anything. My staff from EMS in the Berkshires used to call me Dori- I think from Finding Nemo, maybe because I ramble on about stuff, maybe because I am comic relief- I think it was a compliment. Who knows. :) Hey, if I end up looking like Ellen DeGeneres when I am done here... I will take it! I just need a million dollar wardrobe enhancement. I will add the donations key to this blog for that purpose about 80 lbs from now. lol. kidding, really.
Any who, I just wanted to post something for today. I am on the search for a training journal that I can record workouts and food consumption in... any suggestions? I have a little bit of shopping to do for the holiday and then I have work from now until 7pm tomorrow.
p.s. I will post the actual plan I am following in the next couple of days.

Countdown to January 2nd!

December 22, 2009
So- preparations are underway for the January 2nd start date. Why the 2nd and not the 1st you ask? Because the 1st is the Rose Bowl Game and I did not want to sabotage myself right out of the gate. That is a big football party day in my life- and I knew I would not be able to eat cleanly that day no matter what I might want to write here. So, I will root for the Ohio State Buckeyes and eat as smartly as I can that day... and begin my onslaught om my personal health the next day.
I plan to begin with a detox of sorts- don't panic, it is not the grapefruit diet or anything crazy. I am going to follow a 21 day plan that is laid out for me in the special collector's issue of Oxygen Magazine that was put out this month. Titled: Off the Couch- Motivation for Real Women. So, on page 33 there is a three week meal plan. Check it out:  I am even going to eat fish. Yes, me- the kid who covered up her fish with spaghettios in an attempt to hide it from view. I really hate fish... ok, hate is a strong word. I am desperate and it is good for me so I will eat it. I will drink inhuman amounts of water and I will not have sugar. Arg! I don't have a personal chef, so I will have to get these healthy foods at my neighborhood Trader Joe's. How convenient! It is a good thing that my wife is a good cook- she is even willing to make the stuff up for me in advance since I work retail hours on a schedule that is not conducive to eating normal meals at all.
I also think Santa is bringing me a gym membership to Planet Fitness! So, that will give me controlled times on the treadmill for the 3 weeks I am detoxing... (read- withdrawing)
That is that... i will post as I am laying out the groundwork for this to happen.
I am now going to take a nap since I am home sick... guess it is better to get this out of the way now. sigh.
